National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC) Meeting
The preliminary meeting of the National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC) for BSc Chemical Engineering Technology Programme was held from Sept 14 to 16 at Shuhada-e-APS University of Technology (UoT), Nowshera.
The meeting was organised by the National Technology Council (NTC), Pakistan. Experts from across the country participated in the meeting.
NTC chairman Imtiaz Hussain Gillani said in his inaugural address that similar curriculum reviews were under way in 40 engineering technology disciplines across Pakistan. He said that its objective was to align the current engineering technology programme curriculum with the new undergraduate framework of the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, UoT Nowshera vice-chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mohammad Khan lauded the participants for being part of such a national cause. He expressed his gratitude to NTC for organising the NCRC at the UoT Nowshera and taking the initiative to modernise the quality and skills of engineering technologists.
The new curriculum will be designed according to the guidelines of the International Engineering Alliance’s Sydney Accord for Engineering Technologists.
The curriculum will be Outcome Education Based (OBE) with the student-centric approach. This will significantly improve the quality of engineering technologists produced in Pakistan.
In the concluding session, Prof Zaffar Mohammad Khan thanked the participants of NCRC meeting and distributed shields among them.
On behalf of the guest members, the convener Prof Dr Saeed Gul from the UET Peshawar also thanked the NTC and UoT Nowshera teams for organising the preliminary meeting.
