Advisor to the Chief Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, Mr. Abdul Karim Khan Tordher, made a significant visit to the University of Technology Nowshera on 15th May 2024. The distinguished advisor explored the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of the University, showing keen interest in projects completed by the institution’s graduates. Expressing appreciation for the diligent efforts of the University’s ORIC, he wholeheartedly pledged his support for the commercialization of promising student ideas, while also presenting innovative suggestions for fostering stronger academia-industry ties.

Highlighting an engaging moment, the advisor promptly directed his staff to reach out to key industrialists, urging them to reinforce their connections with the University. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Imran Khan, warmly welcomed the advisor’s proactive approach and endorsed his understanding of the pivotal responsibilities borne by technical institutes and universities.

Subsequently, the honorable advisor received a comprehensive presentation on the University, delving into the challenges it faces. A strategic discussion ensued, particularly focusing on the development of the University’s campus. Mr. Abdul Karim emphasized the imperative of leveraging the capabilities of local talent to address provincial issues, stressing the necessity of formulating policies to ensure the University’s self-sustainability.

Concluding the visit with mutual expressions of gratitude, key tasks were identified for joint pursuit by the University and the advisor’s office. Additionally, Mr. Abdul Karim underscored his commitment to the province’s advancement, urging the University faculty to harness their strengths and capabilities to devise local solutions for technical challenges. This, he emphasized, would reduce the province’s dependence on external technical support.
