The University of Technology (UoT) Nowshera celebrated Youm-e-Takbeer with great enthusiasm and patriotism on 28th May 2024. The event, remembering Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, featured a seminar and a walk, involving both students and staff.

The seminar, held in the university’s conference room, was led by the focal person, Engr. Muhammad Lais. In his address, Engr. Lais highlighted the significance of Youm-e-Takbeer, emphasizing the day as a milestone in Pakistan’s history. He elaborated on the scientific and strategic importance of the nuclear tests, which marked Pakistan as the first Muslim-majority country to possess nuclear weapons, thereby ensuring its defense capabilities and regional stability.

Engr. Lias provided a detailed background on the events and highlighted the contributions of the country’s scientists and engineers, whose efforts and dedication were instrumental in achieving this monumental success.

The seminar was followed by a spirited walk around the UoT campus, where students and staff displayed banners, expressing their pride and patriotic sentiments. A model of the Chagai Hills, where the nuclear tests were conducted, was also showcased, symbolizing the site of Pakistan’s remarkable achievement and serving as a visual representation of national pride and scientific accomplishment. The walk served to reinforce the message of unity, strength, and collective responsibility toward national progress and security.

Participants in the event shared their thoughts, with many students expressing respect and appreciation for the country’s scientific achievements. The University of Technology Nowshera’s celebration of Youm-e-Takbeer highlighted the enduring spirit of Pakistani resilience and the critical importance of remembering and honoring pivotal moments in the nation’s history.
